Expanded BiographyMr. Reysen enjoyed a long career editing business magazines at several major publishing companies before becoming communications manager for the New Jersey Planning Officials in 2002. As editor of Playthings magazine from 1979 to1999, he became an international authority on the United States toy industry and appeared as a guest expert on numerous radio and television newscasts, business reports and talk shows. Under his direction, the magazine was honored with the coveted Neal Award from the American Business Press as well as receiving several Community Action Network Awards. Mr. Reysen also worked as a top editor at Incentive Marketing, Media-Scope and Licensing Trends, all located in New York. His extensive writings on various business subjects are cited in a number of scholarly volumes. As a graduate of Fordham Preparatory and Fordham University, the Bronx, New York native holds a Master's degree from West Virginia University, where he was elected to Kappa Tau Alpha National Journalism Honorary Society. He was a doctoral candidate at Southern Illinois University before serving in active military duty at the United States Army Infantry School in Fort Benning, Georgia. In addition, he served as a combat information officer in Vietnam from 1967 to 1968 where he rose to the rank of Captain and was awarded three Bronze Stars and the Army Commendation Medal. He was the first Army officer ever appointed as Director of the Department of Defense High School News Service. During his versatile career, Mr. Reysen has met and interviewed a variety of dignitaries in many fields. Among them were South Vietnam heads of State Nguyen Van Thieu and Nguyen Cao Ky, United States Vice Presidential candidate and football star Jack Kemp, film and television actors Charlton Heston, Martha Raye and Sebastian Cabot, music great James Brown, animators Walter Lanz and Jim Henson and sports legends Joe Paterno, Joe Lapchick, Bobby Bell and Howard Cosell. Mr. Reysen is an active volunteer in local school and church activities.
